- Press Release: GGUSD Board of Education Approves November Bond Measure to Improve School Safety and Learning Environments
On November 8, 2016, voters in the Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) overwhelmingly approved ‘Measure P’ authorizing $311 million in school bonds to fund safety improvements and modernization updates to support 21st century learning. Measure P drew the support of 76.3 percent of GGUSD voters – well above the 55 percent approval required to pass.

Measure P will cost $34 per $100,000 of assessed property value or about $8 per month for the typical homeowner. An independent citizens’ bond oversight committee along with annual audits would ensure funds are spent as promised. This is the same accountability system that was implemented when the district passed Measure A in 2010 to begin the first phase of critical infrastructure improvements to its aging schools which had never been updated.
